TrustWallet Launches IoTeX Staking/Voting dApp

With Mainnet Alpha on the horizon, IoTeX is always looking for new convenient ways for our community to stake/vote for Delegates. Flexibility, clean interface, and security are needed to ensure the safety of voters’ tokens and provide a great user experience. This is why we are excited to announce the new IoTeX Staking/Voting dApp in Trustwallet !

For those not familiar with the IoTeX voting process, see our Voter Handbook .

What is TrustWallet?

Trust Wallet is a mobile wallet app that lets you send, receive and store cryptocurrency tokens, including IoTeX. Designed with a focus on simplicity, Trustwallet aims to provide a platform that’s easy and straightforward to set up and use. TrustWallet was acquired by Binance in July 2018.

Trust Wallet allows users to store private keys on their device, an important security feature, and includes a backup facility for simple recovery. Other features include a built-in decentralized exchange and Web3 browser that allows you to interact with dApps in Trust Wallet.

The newest TrustWallet dApp is the IoTeX staking/voting dApp, which is fully integrated with IoTeX’s voting website . Starting now, you can stake/vote directly via Trustwallet!

How to Stake/Vote using TrustWallet?

In this section, we provide step-by-step instructions on how to vote using the IoTeX staking/voting dApp on TrustWallet. For any questions, please reach out to the official TrustWallet Telegram or IoTeX Telegram.

Step #1: Install TrustWallet

The first step is to install TrustWallet on your mobile device. TrustWallet is available for Apple, Google Play, and Android on the TrustWallet website:

Step #2: Add IoTeX to TrustWallet

After installing TrustWallet, add IoTeX by clicking the search icon on the top right. You may transfer existing IOTX and other tokens to TrustWallet, or purchase new tokens in the app directly.

Be sure to add all IOTX tokens you wish to stake (and some ETH for gas fees) to your TrustWallet. Congrats, you have successfully set up TrustWallet!

Step #3: Open the IoTeX staking/voting dApp

Now that you have IOTX tokens (and some ETH for gas fees) in your TrustWallet, it’s time to VOTE! Start by visiting the “dApps” section of TrustWallet.

You will find the IoTeX Voting App in both the Marketplaces and Staking sections. Open the dApp, which takes you to the IoTeX voting website.

Step #4: Vote for Delegates

There are 50+ IoTeX Delegates with unique backgrounds to choose from on the voting website. You can vote for as many Delegates as you want with a single account. We recommend dividing your total tokens into at least five buckets, which lets you vote for up to five Delegates.

Create a voting bucket for each Delegate by clicking “Vote Now!”. Choose an amount of IOTX, a stake duration, and auto-stake on/off:

  • Input amount of IOTX you wish to stake (1 IOTX = 1 Vote). Reminder: we recommend splitting your total tokens into multiple buckets.
  • Setting a stake duration gives you bonus votes, which will reduce every day and converge to zero when the stake duration expires
  • Choose auto-stake on/off. “On” means your stake duration will be locked and your voting power will be retained until you turn off auto-stake.

Congratulations — you successfully voted with TrustWallet! You will see your TrustWallet token balances change based on how many tokens you staked/voted. Visit the “My Votes” page to see your votes.

Changing your Votes

After making your votes, you can update your votes and change your voting buckets in several ways on the “My Votes” page:

  • Change Delegate: change your vote to another Delegate at any time
  • Restake: extend your stake duration or turn on/off auto-stake at any time
  • Unstake: if you do not set a stake duration or your stake duration has expired, you may unstake your tokens — the process takes 3 days before you can withdraw to your wallet
  • Withdraw: after the 3 day unstake period, you may withdraw your tokens to your wallet

Any changes will be sent to the staking/voting smart contract — a small gas fee is required. Please see our recommended gas limits to save on gas fees.

What’s Next?

We hope you enjoy the IoTeX voting process — your participation in voting makes the IoTeX network more efficient and secure. If you have any issues or questions regarding voting using TrustWallet, please reach out to the official TrustWallet Telegram or IoTeX Telegram.
